Tegallalang is the first place we visited after our arrival in Bali. We rented a motorbike for 50,000 Rupiah and with the help of the villa staff we managed to get to Tegallalang after  20 minutes ride towards north of Ubud. On that day, the road to Tegallalang was beautifully decorated with Penjor, the swaying pole with coconut leaves. We were told that it was Kuningan Day, a Balinese festive celebration and the Balinese were clad their traditional costume (baju adat), and the men wore sudeng (head gear) on their head. Traditional dressing is compulsory to all Balinese especially on festive days and when visiting the temples.   

The view of the terrace paddy fields in Tegallalang is simply soothing to the eyes. Many buses packed with tourists visited this place. We had coffee at the nearby restaurant, overlooking the rice fields.  Although rice fields are common in Northern Malaysia, we do not have terraced field like this one. It was fun watching everyone posing with the backdrop of this green field. We met Eduardo while sipping our coffee and after having conversation with him we decided to hire him the next day. He was such a great help, guiding us to several interesting places in Bali. 

We left Tegallalang as the crowd gets larger and our next destination is to the Padang Restaurant around Ubud town. There are many opportunities of shopping in Ubud but the things can be a bit pricey as Ubud is packed with domestic and foreign tours.
